Save the Earth in 60 minutes!

What is Earth Hour?

Earth Hour is a yearly movement that encourages everyone around the world to switch off their lights for one hour to conserve the planet’s energy. From 8.30PM to 9.30PM on March 30th 2019, you’re invited to switch off your lights and spark the conversation around protecting the planet.

What began in Sydney in 2007 as a grassroots movement, is now celebrated every year at the end of March, where everyone turns off their lights for one hour. Coordinated by World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and other volunteer organizations, the main driving force behind the event is the people that take part. So whether you’re a small business or just you, the focus is on changing individual actions and mindset.

Earth Hour is centered around nature and saving the planet’s diversity of life.

What does it do?

The focus of Earth Hour is to change individual behavior, as well as legislation, in a bid to protect the planet from the effects of increasing climate change and biodiversity loss.

Millions of people take part and host events to raise awareness about Earth Hour and its values. By joining in, we can help alter mindsets around every day issues and patterns that are in desperate need of change.

How can I take part in Earth Hour?

Here are some ideas on how you can join in and raise awareness:

  1. Host a candlelit dinner party
  2. Celebrate the darkness and go stargazing
  3. Screen a film for you and your friends
  4. Have an Earth Hour party
  5. Join a larger community event

Don’t forget to spread the word and RSVP on Facebook and include the hashtag #Connect2Earth.
